Design Intent
The Hill Street Residential Project, located in Athens, GA is a single-family residence. This existing site is a vacant lot that has been used as a greenspace for years. My design depicts a single-family home with a strong connection to the existing nature on site. The proposed design will save all of the existing vegetation on site, ensuring there is no negative impact on the ecosystem. This project features a lovely home and garage with raised planting beds, an outdoor lounge with a curvilinear firepit and seat wall, a beautiful rain garden, and a large fence providing privacy and aesthetic. The whole site is also ADA accessible, so people of all ages and abilities can utilize the spaces with ease.

Site Grading Plan
I wanted to ensure that the whole site was ADA accessible so it can be utilized by everyone. This was a slight challenge, as I was also hoping to keep proper drainage throughout the site and save the existing oak trees. I utilized a rain garden, just Northeast of the house, to help detain the water runoff, which in return prevents erosion, flooding, and allows vegetation to grow. I also ensured that there are no slopes greater than 4% along the walkways so that individuals confined to wheelchairs can use the spaces.
